Paper Tulip Tutorial on Scrapadabadoo

I have some fun new flowers to share with you.

Tulips!

They are super easy and fun to make.

As usual, I used white cardstock and LSG sprays

to color the cardstock and seam binding.

Over thinking- LSG Sprays on Canvas

So for the 3rd month in a row, I have been over thinking my project for the LSG monthly color Challenge. Since I am just starting my collection, I have to order the products. While I wait for them to be sent, I think about all the things I can do for a project...
I OVER think it. Then I make something, and it is not what I pictured so I wait and make something else. Then I end up waiting until the last minute. Not sure what is wrong with me.

Well, I finally made a project yesterday that I really like.

My first ever canvas and I am kinda' lovin' it.

These where the colors for the April Color Challenge

Lindy's Stamp Gang Blog

Here is a close up where you can see the colors.

Since I did not really know what I was doing...I was not afraid to try play and new things.
I sprayed the canvas. Then added more, then ended up washing color out from adding more on top. LOL In the end, I liked the colors and patterns. 
You can see that I applied Golden Light Modeling Paste through a Prima Damask stencil over the sprayed canvas and it soaked up the colors that were underneath it. Then I added a little more with a paintbrush just to get it where I wanted.

 Here you can see where I added the same paste through a TCW Wildflowers stencil and then painted over it with a brush.

 I used vellum. I die cut the flower shapes with a TH  and sprayed them with

 Ramblin’ Rose Pink & Wake Me Up Before You Go Gold.

I added little squirts of  Alpine Ice Rose on the pink flowers and Marigold Yellow Orange to the yellow flowers just to get a little color variation.

I made the centers darker by dabbing on more Ramblin’ Rose Pink then added glass beads and micro beads.

 For the leaves, I tore strips of vellum and sprayed them with Edelweiss Moss Green.

If you look closely, you can see where I sprayed white cloth wrapped wire with the green and made little tendrils.

So what am I taking from this?

 I am going to TRY really hard to stop over thinking things. What I picture in my head rarely ever comes out the same in real life. I am going to try to just play more and have fun with it. :)

Lindy's Stamp Gang March Color Challenge

I have been having fun playing with my Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays and embossing powders. I made a project for the March Color Challenge.

The Lindy's shimmery goodness does not show up well in the pictures, but it really wows in person. 

 The idea started out as a card but transformed into a luminary using cardstock, chipboard, vellum, and of course LSG products.

Here you can see the different colors created when the battery operated tea light alternates hues. So pretty!

This project sort of took on a life of it's own. I added more and more as I went. It was fun though. I made an arched window cut file and used my own bird and flower cut files. The base is chipboard covered in white cardstock then sprayed with  I'm Late, I'm Late Slate  then spritzed with Silent Night Silver. I used a Crafter's Workshop brick stencil and applied Golden Light Modeling Paste. When the paste was dry, I brushed the Slate and Silver on the bricks with a water brush. A little watered down  Midnight Rendezvous Raven allowed me to add some shadows. I added patches of Silver Moon Turquoise embossing powder for a little more glam and depth.

I made REALLY SMALL handmade Regal Roses from white cardstock sprayed with
Alpine Ice Rose and Hibiscus Rose

The leaves and vines were also cut from white cardstock and colored with 
Green with Envy Green spray. The tiny vine and tendrils were made with cloth covered florist wire that I stained with Green with Envy Green. That cute little birdie looks great in Bachelor Button Blue.

The stained glass window is vellum sprayed with the Bachelor Button Blue, Alpine Ice Rose, Hibiscus Rose, and I'm Late, I'm Late Slate.

On the inside, I sprayed the brick stencil with the slate and laid the stencil on top like a type of stamp.

Goodies from Scrapadabadoo

I got another order from my favorite online scrapbooking store before, Scrapadabadoo.

This time it was filled with Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays and some fun scrapbook paper.

The paper from Fab Scraps, French Heritage,  is Fabulous! I told my hubby it was my new favorite paper line but he just laughed and replied that I say that with every new paper line. LOL

Honestly, the pictures of this patterned papers do not do it justice. It is sooo pretty.

Normally, I would hoard this paper and not want to cut it. I forced myself to use some of it. I will admit that I am kind of happy that I did. 

I used my new LSG sprays for the flowers and ribbon. The handmade Open Rose and seam binding were a mixture of Alpine Ice Rose and Autumn Maple Crimson. Both yummy colors! The 3 darker flowers were sprayed with the crimson spray and i made a sort of messy Loose Rose with them. I added some seed beads to the centers. The leaves were actually left overs from another project.

So now that I cut into one of the Fab Scraps French Heritage papers I will be able to use the others soon and not just hide them away in my craft cube...then again...LOL

Lindy's Stamp Gang February Color Challenge

Thanks so much for all the lovely encouraging comments on my last post. I appreciate it. 

I have something really fun to share with you. Take a look...

All of the cardstock was white or black. I got those great colors with Lindy's Stamp Gang (LSG) sprays and embossing powders! They are so awesome! I feel a new product addiction coming on . LOL Lindy's products have pigment color and a different color mica powders. When you look at them one way you see the vivid color and then as you turn it you see a beautiful shimmer in another fabulous color.

I'm not sure if you can tell from this picture, but the handmade paper rose was sprayed with LSG Cheshire Cat Cherry. I embossed the ends of the petals with LSG Razzleberry Plum embossing powder.  It is pink but as you turn it you can see the hints of purple. (It is so cool)

I used the luscious LSG Tibetan Poppy Teal for the handmade turquoise flowers and the embossed panel in the background. (it is my new favorite color ever)

I used my diamond edge rectangle cut file for the lacy mat and sprayed the embossed panel with Silent Night Silver. I just love the way the shimmery goodness pools in the recessed areas.

For the leaves I stained the white cardstock with TH Distress Stain in Bundled Sage then heat embossed it with LSG Silver Moon Turquoise. 

The small fringed flowers are sprayed with LSG Creme Brulee Cream and a hint of Cheshire Cat Cherry.

Beauty in the Eye of the Beholder

I was trying to make a card last week when I was feeling really crummy and I felt like it was really showing in my work. The flowers did not come out the way I wanted. I kept dropping things, The colors did not seem to turn out the way I wanted. (And so on)

i was so frustrated with it all that I considered just tossing the card out or ripping the flowers off and starting over. About that time, my hubby comes home and sees the card. With out me asking him what he thought, he starts going on and on about how pretty the card was. He even said it was his new favorite. He talked about how much the lady I was making it for would love it. I was shocked.

I started thinking about how we sometimes do things that we don't see the value in but turns out blessing others. 

This new found perspective caused me to look at the card differently. I decided it was not so bad and even took the time to add a few pearl pen embellishments.

So what am I taking from this? Sometimes beauty is in the eye of the beholder so I should not be so tough on my assessment. More importantly, no one sees the frustration that can go along with making the card. All they see is a nice homemade greeting and they appreciate the lesson. :)
