butterfly and open roses 1

I made this lovely card using Prima Butterfly paper and a butterfly from the Prima Butterfly chipboard set.  I added some Recollections pearls along with some pearls and rhinestones from the Fabscraps Pearls & Bling set. In the center, I pleated some paper (watch this video I made a few years ago to see how it is done.)

Black and Teal Mariposa Card

Here is another card using another sheet of Mariposa paper.
You can get a set from Scrapadabadoo.

I chose this black sheet with gold foil from the 12x 12 Mariposa paper pad

I trimmed it down and layered it on top of white cardstock that I inked with

The small simple flowers are inked with  Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink on the edges.
The Loose Roses were inked with Spiced Marmalade.  I brushed over them with Clear Wink of Stella. Then I brushed over the edges with Gold Wink of Luna. The centers where filled with gold micro beads, I added gold foil to the Open Rose. I started out staining it with Aged Mahogany then I dabbed Flittler Glu onto the petals and then rubbed on some Minc Gold foil.
I was very impressed that the foil staid on even when I shaped the petals.

Burgundy Mariposa Card

I am having fun using my Mariposa papers
Why am I FINALLY using these pretty papers you may ask/ Well, because I ordered a second set from Scrapadabadoo. LOL

I chose this burgundy sheet from the 12x 12 Mariposa paper pad

I trimmed it down and layered it on top of some black cardstock and gold foil trim.

I made 3 different types of flowers. I have some small simple flowers that I inked with Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink. Then there are some Loose Roses that have been stained with Aged Mahogany Distress Satin the I brushed over them with Clear Wink of Stella.
I could not resist brushing over the edges with Gold Wink of Luna. The centers where filled with gold micro beads, I did something special to the Open Rose. I started out staining it with Aged Mahogany but with all the gold foil on the patterned paper I felt the rose needed a little gold, I dabbed Flittler Glu onto the petals and then rubbed on some Minc Gold foil.
The outcome is so pretty and once the foil was on there it did not come off as I shaped the petals.

I added some Prima bling from my stash then sat back and admired all the gold foil on the card. :)

Thank You with Mariposa

Just like every other paper crafter, I feel in love with the DCWV Mariposa papers when they first came out. I hoarded the beautiful sheets of paper because I could not bear to part with it.

Well guess what? Scrapadabadoo has ordered more of the
Mariposa 12x12 paper pads and the 6.5x5 paper pads !

This means I can use one set of papers and keep the other set. LOL

I made this side step Thank You card and actually used several sheets of paper. haha

I started with this teal sheet then layered the coral and butterfly sheets.

Then I fussy cut some butterflies from these sheets:

Of course, I had to add some of bling (although it is difficult to see)

So now that I can have my Mariposa ans use it too, I think I will make more cards with the lovely papers.

Metallic Look Paper

Hello crafty friends. I made this card months ago but am just now getting around to posting it. Better late than never, huh?

My sister had double knee replacement surgery. While nothing can actually make that feel better, I thought a card might cheer her up a little.

I had just watched this video that Jennifer McGuire made in August:
Faux Textured Metal Paper with Perfect Pearls

The video shows how to create a cool metallic paper look by use Distress Inks, embossing with embossing folders, then adding Perfect Pearls. The effect is quite nice in person.

I used Seedless Preserves, Milled Lavender, and Salty Ocean Distress Inks and an Anna Griffin embossing folder along with Perfect Pearls (in Perfect Pearl color).

I added some of my Multi layered flowers inked with Seedless Preserves.
I added some seed beads that I had in my stash to the center and finished the card off with some bling.

Purple Heartfelt Creations paper

Not sure if I ever posted this card. I used Heartfelt Creations Burst of Splendor papers and of course my handmade paper flowers.

Funny thing is that I chose this paper because it was so beautiful then I ended up covering it up with flowers. LOL

K & Co Pastel White and Pink Roses

I tried something a little different with the roses for this card. Instead of inking the whole petal with Distress Inks, I just barely inked the edges of each petal then went over them with LSG sprays using the dauber tops. The finished product is a very pretty pastel effect.

Inks used
Frayed Burlap & Victorian Velvet Distress Inks
Clam Bake Beige & Alpine Ice Rose Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays and Old Baldy daubers

Fab Scraps Pearls & Bling used also.

K & Co and LSG Roses

Well, I have been busy. We had a house built and have recently moved in. YAY.
I love it.
So while I take a little longer to sort things out, I thought you might want to look at a few of the cards I have made this summer that never actually made it to the blog. I don't remember a lot of details but they were worth showing.

The bling shown here has become my favorite go-to embellishment lately. It is from a pack of flat backed pearls and rhinestones that I bought from Scrapadabadoo.

The pearls come in 3 different sizes and there are large rhinestones. They add the perfect touch.
These little gems are not self adhesive, but I like to add Glossy Accents to my pearls anyway to make sure they do not come off after all that work.

K & Co Pastel Pink Open Roses

So...It has been a while since I posted last.

The weather during the last few months has played havoc on my damaged nerves.
The good news is that Summer seems to have brought more stable weather. I am feeling much better now.

Here is a card I made using the
Kellerkurtz & Company Paper Pack.
(unfortunately this is an older paper line that is probably not available any longer)

The colors in the papers were so soft that I did something different when I colored my flowers.
I inked the first few smallest flower shapes in TH Victorian Velvet but for the remaining flower layers, I just colored the edges then went over all the petals with Wink of Stella Clear glitter pen.

The flower colors came out so soft and pretty.

Here you can see the card base that I inked with TH Spun Sugar Stain.
Next is a sheet of the K& Co paper that is pink with brown script/
The top layer of paper is a beautiful page with pastel colored roses.

Soft and sweet.

K & Co Theater

Here is another card I made using the

This card was for someone who loves the theater so the paper was a perfect fit.

There were several images of programs and play scripts. I thought Alice in Wonderland was best for this card so I was sure to include it.

The roses and seam binding were colored with a mixture of
TH Dried Marigold, Spiced Marmalade,  and LSG Marigold Yellow Orange.

K & Co Corset

Here is a card I made a while back using this

The corset was so pretty that I just had to use it on a card.
It and the sewing notions were on a 12 by 12 piece of paper that was too large just to cut and use on the card front as they were. I fussy cut the notions so they all fit.

I added some of my handmade paper roses and hand dyed seam binding colored with
LSG Alpine Ice Rose mixed with a little TH distress stain in Dried Marigold.

All supplies can be found at Scrapadabadoo.

K & Co Beaded Butterflies

The pictures really do not do this card justice. The butterflies are so pretty.

I stamped them with Black Stazon ink then colored them with Distress Inks.
Next, I added some glass bead gel and let them dry.

Easy and beautiful.

I used papers from this Kirby Teesdale Studio paper pack from Scrapadabadoo.

Coffee Filter Flowers & Butterflies Craft

Hello crafty friends!

I have a fun craft to share with you along with an educational activity.

I shared videos showing how to make these lovely

Be sure to hop over there to see how easy and fun they are.

I have literally made hundreds of these with students over the years.
They never seem to get tired of them.

I always tied it into the lessons on Spring and the Lifecycle of a butterfly.

Check out this teachable moment while crafting.

Hope you have fun crafting and learning with a special child in your life.
(I bet you will find that you have just as much fun as the kids do. LOL)

Cards with Heart(s)

Wow, sorry for not posting in so long. The good news is that I have felt better and been able to do more and go a few places. The bad news is that I have neglected my blog. I have been crafting though. It will take me a while to get caught up with all the pictures. That just means you all get to see lots of posts in the next few weeks. :)

So let me start with some cards that I planned to be for Valentine's but would still be good for several other occasions such as love, Mother's Day, or weddings.

All the cards were made using the Authentique Classique Pretty paper collection from Scrapadabadoo.

 Heart Card 1

Here is a breakdown of how I made this card.
You can download the pdf page here.

 Heart Card 2

Here is a video showing how this card was put together.

 Heart Card 3

Same idea, but the different papers give you such different looks.

Here is a video.

Well I hope you have enjoyed these cards.
There are 12 heart cards in all.
You can download all the measurements/instructions and templates.

I will be posting more videos during the week.
(after all, I really have to get caught up. LOL)

Secret Garden Card

Hello My wonderful craft friends.
I made this card months ago but forgot to post it. Better late than never. LOL

I used Graphic 45 papers from The Secrete Garden that I have been hoarding for a while.
(I know it is silly to hang on to the pretty papers, but I also know I am not the only one who does it. LOL)
I made some handmade paper roses using Tattered Rose and touches of Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks.
Since it was Secret Garden paper I though a key charm was the perfect edition.

Take care.
