Glass Bead Gel

Check out this tag that I used glass bead gel medium on.

Several years ago, I went to a scrapbook expo and saw these really cool adhesive sheets and tiny glass micro beads being sold. It was so interesting that I bought some. Problem was I also bought quite a few other things that trip and the micro beads did not get much attention. I did get them out a time or two for to cover butterflies.

I even used them in shaker cards.

but it was not easy to handle all those tiny little beads without making a mess.

Well, I have been seeing glass bead gel mediums used quite a bit lately in the crafting world. The tiny little glass beads are already in a gel medium so they are easy to apply and clean up. I thought that was cool,,,

...but then Faber Castell added glitter to their glass bead gel. Even better!

Here is some spread over some Kaisercraft patterned paper. It is difficult to get a picture that shows how pretty this product is. (and no big mess involved)

The Scrapadabadoo FB challenge is to use a tag and ribbon. so I thought this would be great. I just spread it over my patterned paper ans waited for it to dry. 

Note: I did mount the tag on a piece of chipboard sense the gel medium on the thin paper tends to curl on the ends.

Seeing all the glitz on the patterned paper made me want to add Stickels to the butterfly that I added.

Of course a little bling never hurts either. LOL

So there you have a very nice tag with pretty paper and great texture without a lot of fuss.

I will be using this glass bead gel a lot.

Faber Castell Glass Bead Glitter Gel   

Shimmer

I played with my Inca Gold paste and got some cool shimmer. It may not show up well in the picture, but it is so cool in person.

All I used was white cardstock. I embossed this one with a Spellbinders Mbossabilities folder. Then I covered the edges of the cardbase with Inca Gold as well as the embossed panel. The texted and butterfly were covered with Perfect Pearls to add even more shimmer.

  

 This card was similar but I used an Anna Griffin embossing folder.

Teal and Brown

Here is another card I made while using my new Inca Gold and Silks paints products. This my favorite color combo, teal and brown.

I embossed brown cardstock then applied Inca Gold in Turquoise. The butterfly was cut from white cardstock then completely covered in Inca Gold so none of the white shows through. I added Gala Glitz to the butterfly's body.

 Notice how well the butterfly and flowers match? Instead of Inca Gold for the flowers I used Silks acrylic glaze by Luminarte. 

I did not have the exact color in the glazes but they blend so perfectly when wet that it was easy to use Teal Zircon and Sky Blue. You cannot tell from the picture but they have a really nice shimmer. I added Gala Glitz to the flower centers too.

Green and Pink

I got some cool new craft goodies for Christmas including some Inca Gold products. I have been having so much fun playing with them. The Inca Gold is similar to Guilder's Paste or Rub N Buff except they do not have much of an odor and they are really creamy instead of a hard wax. They come in yummy colors too.

Here is a card I made for my niece in her favorite color combo.

The embossed background and the butterfly are covered in green Inca Gold. 

The flowers leaves and branch are inked then covered in Perfect Pearls so they shimmer.

Step Card Thank Yous

Hello my crafty friends. I have been keeping myself busy by making cards. We needed some special thank you cards to send to some wonderful people who helped out during my dad's time in hospice and the funeral. Since I happen to make cards (LOL) I was happy to create them.

I used some more of my Mariposa paper from the K&Co stack. This one has several colorful butterflies on a glittered cardstock. Look closely and you can see the glittery dots.

I was in a colorful mood so I chose to used Ripe Persimmon and Peacock Feathers Distress inks to color my white cardstock for the card base, mats, and decorations. 

I pulled these colors to go with the Mariposa patterned paper then I ended up covering most of the patterned paper up. LOL

I added WOW Embossing glitter to the butterfly and text. It really popped against all the orange.

To accent the edges of my handmade Regal Roses in Ripe Persimmon, I added some Rusty Hinge ink.

Orange Butterfly

I made this card a while back for a lovely young lady who had a birthday. She loves orange and this Mariposa paper from K and Co. seemed perfect. Of course I added some flowers and a Stickled butterfly.

I used Ripe Persimmon and Stormy Sky Distress Inks. I am really liking the combination.

Butterfly and Pretty Flower decorations for mini and card

I posted pictures of this mini album that I recently made using long envelopes, chipboard, and cardstock. 

Before I gave it as a present, I made a matching Center Step Card using my butterfly and 
"pretty" flower cut files.

Pink and Black Butterfly Card

I finally got around to not just pinning something on Pinterest, but actually making something based on a Pinterest idea. (Yay me! LOL)

I am sure most of you have seen this beautiful pink and Black butterfly card created by Dorota-mk from Art Dorota-mk. Well my card is not quite like hers, but it did give me the idea to make this card...

I used a K and Co patterned paper from Merryweather and black cardstock.
I also adapted several of my cut files for this. (detailed butterfly from The Butterfly Collection, Rectangular Tags, and Loopy Tags)

I embossed one of the layers just for texture and added Stickles to the butterfly.

Of course I also added some bling because....well, why not? LOL

Don't know what I am thinking...

I made several projects fairly recently but I let them get sent off without any pictures. I thought I had taken pictures. Maybe I did but for the life of me I can not find where I saved the files. While I was looking for them I came across a picture I had taken of one of the cards in a plastic bag.

I made a nice butterfly card using my oval frame die cut and my butterfly file. The card base is white cardstock that I inked in Tumbled Glass. Next there is a black mat, then a white mat, and then you see the background that was stamped with a TH Damask stamp in Tumbled Glass.  It seems that the only picture I can find is one of the card in a plastic bag.

I bought several of these bags in bulk. The opening is 6 inches wide and it will hold things up to 9 inch tall. It is the perfect size for 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 cards. It is also food safe and has a zipper top. Since I bought so many bags I am going to list some on my Etsy site.

Glittery Butterfly Mini Album

I made this simple mini album using long envelopes. Then I proceeded to make it complicated! LOL

I started out with green #10 envelopes that I had left over from 2 Christmases ago. I followed Laura Dennison's instructions in this video from 2010.

Then I covered it in some K & Co. specialty glitter paper from the Merryweather line.
Since more is always better when glitter is concerned...LOL... I added some Art Glitter that my DH put in my stocking. (you got to love a man that buys you lots of pretty glitter :) 

This is one of my butterfly cut files.

Here is one of my "pretty flowers" inked with Distress Stains and glittered on the edges.

I added some cardstock to cover the binding and stained seam binding around it.

I covered everything in patterned paper and added some embellishments from by butterfly and diamond edges cut files.

 Some pages had 1 pocket adorned in pearls...

...and other pages had 2 pockets with pink rhinestones. 

I covered some of the flaps with butterflies and others with my Diamomd Edged medallions with a Pretty Flower in the center.

Twinkling Butterfly

Hello my crafty friends. I have so many different projects going that I have neglected my blog and commenting this week. Here is a little thank you card I made with my new Twinkling H2O's.

It does not show up in the picture, but that butterfly is filled with shimmery goodness. These Twinkling H2O's are shimmery watercolor paints. They have been around for a few years now, but I am just getting around to trying them. I really like them. :)

The darker areas of the butterfly are the spots where I got more pigment and the lighter areas are the spots where I let the color wash out a little. I could have added more paint to make the color more uniform, but I liked this effect. I inked my background with Dusty Concord and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks, They were the perfect match. :)

Detailed Butterfly Gatefold

Well, I have been really busy settling in after moving. I really love my new craft space and have been able to do a few crafts. Here is a butterfly gatefold card I made for a friend.

I used my Detailed Butterfly die cuts and my Diamond Edge files. (can be found on my Etsy site)
I embossed the 2 side panels and then went over them with a white chalk ink pad. It gives such a light and dainty feel to the card.

Adding On and On

Ever get an idea for a card in your head and when you start to make it, it evolves into something quite different? That happens to me quite a bit. Sometimes seeing the actual card brings other ideas to mind. Sometimes I just have to fix mistakes and cover things up. I had to fix a lot of little mistakes on this card. I like how it turned out though.

 I made this card for one of my SILs for her birthday. It started out much differently. I was going to focus on the Pink Paislee London Market papers. Then I decided to stamp a sentiment. I was even going to be brave and stamp directly on the the card. Big mistake. I should have known that never works for me. So I put the flowers on the left side to cover up the stamp. Then the card was out of balance and I needed to add something to the right side. LOL  (I used my good old faithful Tattered Flower, Pretty Flowers, and Detailed Butterfly)

So I ended up with a different design than I intended, but it is still just as pretty. I guess that is all just part of the creative process. :)

The original idea for the card would have fit into a regular envelope. With all the changes I ended up needing a bubble envelope. I decided to stamp on the regular envelope...then it needed coloring because it looked too plain...then I needed to add more...decided to doodle...then add glitter glue...

I finally just had to quit and mail the card. 

It has not made it to my SIL yet so I guess this card is still on it's little journey...LOL

Not quite a business card

I do not get out that often, but people are always asking my hubby and son for my blog site or Etsy shop name. I thought I would make some cards with my information on them. They turned out a little bigger than a business card or ATC. They should still do the trick though. LOL

Look at the detailed cuts in that butterfly! Man, I love my cutting machine.

Glittery Butterflies

Well the "Open Rose" stuff is going well! I finally found a way to explain them that makes sense. :) I should have it all together in a few more days. 


In the meantime, I wanted to share a couple of glittery butterfly cards I made last week. I got some glitter embossing powder and, oh my, did I have FUN!

I also got some DCWV Mariposa patterned paper. It was so pretty and had such great gold foil images on it that I just had to dress up the rest of the card to go along with it.  :)   


I used a black card base and cut a turquoise blue mat. I stamped some flourishes on the mat and embossed them with gold glitter embossing powder. I used one of the sheets from the Mariposa mat stack. I added part of a gold doily and  a short strip of my new diamond edged design cut file that I cut in black. I cut one of my detailed butterflies and embossed it with turquoise embossing glitter. (It is sooo shiny in person)

The papers were so pretty, I could not stop there. I had to make a few more. (Really...I HAD to... LOL)

More glittery butterflies on a dry embossed shape that I inked with gold chalk ink.

This paper was so pretty that I did not add anything. (These 2 cards were made using one of the 12 by 12 Mariposa papers that I cut down. )

I can tell that I am going to love this paper pack!
(Yes, I know it has been around for a while, but it is new to me :)

Lattice Edged Cards

I have more lattice edged cards to share. 

This one has the lattice edge around three sides. I added one of my detailed butterflies and my tattered flower & pretty flower combinations. The butterfly and flower cut files are available in my Etsy shop.


It still needed something else but I knew I could not hide the edges of a ribbon and a bow would be too much. So I gathered some white seam binding in the middle and topped it off with a row of pearls. I showed how to gather the seam binding on this post.



Since you can see the other side of the card through the lattice I added a little ink to the front edges.

When I was making the cross and lattice edged mat for my other card, I made an extra set (well, ok...I made a mistake in my measurements the first time...but hey, why waste good die cuts...LOL)

I added a seam binding flower and added  a pearl.

But I was not through with my lattice edged files.

I had to make a card that had the lattice on both sides of the card.

This one is simple but all that cut work adds a great touch.

All I added was a mat, some patterned paper, and a caption.

One more thing to share...

I had to make a box to fit the card I made in the last post.

I used the lattice mat and one of my detailed butterflies to decorated the gift box I made.
