Paper Cutz Challenge #111;cute skeleton

It is time for another fun challenge over at Paper Cutz.
This week the challenge is to make a project with a skeleton or a skull and crossbones It should be cute, not spooky. Well when I think of "cute" I think of Melin's cut files over at Paper Crafting World. I bought her adorable "Bear-as-a- Pirate".

I put him on a candy wrapper that I embossed.
For the candy wrapper, I took a piece of cardstock that was 5 inches by 6 1/4 inches. I scored along the long side at 2 1/4, 2 1/5, 5, and 5 1/4. Then I ran it through my embossing machine but putting the embossing folder over half the wrapper and lining the long edge of the embossing folder with one of the fold lines. Then I embossed the other side the same way. Since the fold line is already there, you don't notice a gap or line where the embossed areas meet.

I added a skull and crossbones treat bag that I made. You can download it here:

Make your own project with a skeleton or skull and crossbones and join us over at Paper Cutz Challenge Blog.

Cuttin' Up With Class Challenge #1

I am so excited! Today is the very first challenge for my new svg cut file challenge blog.
This week's challenge is to use my simple pumpkin file in some way. Well you have seen the pumpkin step card I made and put up on my blog header. I made 2 more pumpkin projects for this challenge.

First up is a pumpkin mini album.

This is pretty simple. (especially if you received the apple mini album from CUWC)
I cut the pumpkins out of orange cardstock and put Rusty Hinge distress ink on my Cuttlebug Victorian embossing folder.  Just rub it on then emboss. I gives you great color in the recessed areas. I also took floral wire, wrapped it around a skewer and clipped it for tendrils.

Next, I have a z-fold card

I cut the cardbase at 4 1/4 by 8 1/2 then cut a blue square 3inches and another one at 3 1/2 inches. Rounded all the corners and scored at 2 1/8 inches and 4 1/4 inches.

These were really easy.
Go by Cuttin' Up with Class to download the free pumpkin file and play along with us.

Pink roses birthday card 2.0

I have a new favorite card that I made. (That seems to happen to me a lot LOL)
You tell me what you think...

I know I have made similar ones before.

This one is just a little better in person.
It has more flowers and a lot more bling.

The roses are made using Penny Duncan's cut file. I cut them out of white cardstock and ink them with TH distress ink; Victorian Velvet. The leaves are my cut file and inked with Forest Moss.  The caption was written in Majestic font in SCAL3 with metallic Cri-Kit pens using my Lynx cutter. The butterfly is one of my cut files that is available from my Etsy store.from the Butterfly Collection SVG's.

Don't for get that tomorrow is challenge day at my new cut file challenge blog, Cuttin' Up With Class.

Paper Cutz Challenge #110 Button Up

Hello my blog friends. Hope you are having a great week.

It is time for another Paper Cutz Challenge. This week it is time to"Button Up" by making a project with buttons on it. Check out the Paper Cutz site for more details.

I decided to make a luminary or tea light cover. It is made from paper and vellum so I used a battery operated tea light.

I used brown cardstock and cut it with an SVG that I made. I inked it with metallic inks and then added a teal colored chalk ink for a slight patina look.

Next, I cover the inside with vellum.

I added buttons and a jute like string.

Look how pretty it is lit up.
I even found a battery operated tea light that changes color.

So pretty!

Hope you enjoy my project and feel inspired! Come join us over at Paper Cutz to get in on all the fun.

Thank you card with roses

My pastor's wife is battling cancer and yet she still managed to send me a card and a book to offer me encouragement. I can not find the words to express how much she has inspired me. I have seen her deal with quite a lot and yet she trusts God completely and never worries. She completely gives the situation to God and does not fret over it. She is such a great example of  trusting God and showing his love.

I made her this thank you card.

I used Penny Duncan's rose file for the roses. I cut them from white cardstock and inked them with Barn Red distress ink. The leaves are from my cut file and were cut from green cardstock and inked with Frayed Burlap.

I made the white mat with the loops on it.
Anna Griffin D'mask paper was used. It is flocked and feels very lush.

I do not remember where I got the frame. If you recognize it, email me and I will gladly give you credit.
I wrote "thank you" using my Cri-kits metallic pens in my Black Cat Lynx. (It worked soooo much better than my Cricut did!)
I also added jewels from Michael's.

You will have to go to Penny Duncan Creations for the rose cut file

Stampin Sisters in Christ

Well I have not done many challenges in the past several weeks. I have missed playing along with Stampin' Sisters In Christ the most. They always have a great craft challenge along with a great spiritual challenge.

This week Rebekka Reed from A Diamond in the Rough was in charge of the challenge. Rebekka's  blog was one of the very first craft blogs I came across about 1 1/2 years ago. She was one of my very first followers. I have really enjoyed reading her posts and hearing her testimony. She is in the process of moving right now so the posts have been fewer the past few weeks. I have found myself wanting to check out her blog several times even though I know she is too busy to post. It has made me realize just how much I appreciate the chance to "socialize" with other Christian women crafters even though I can't physically get out and go places without tremendous pain. I am so thankful to Rebekka and all of you other ladies who have opened your craft room doors and the doors to a part of your lives to let others in.

Speaking of doors...This week's challenge is to create a door or window project. The scripture reference is. Mt. 7:7-8 7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened."

This verse not only refers to seeking God's saving grace. It also means that what ever we are struggling with in life, if we seek God's will and guidance, we will find it. It may not be the answer we want or ever thought we would get. If we "die" to our own will and seek God's will, we will find the life He intended us to live.

Here is what I came up wiith.

The original door cut file was from my country house card several months ago. I made it into a card and  used a brad for the doorknob. I made a Fall swag for the front complete with little flowers. (of course) I also added loves from a little maple leaf punch I bought ages ago. I colored the leaves with alcohol ink.

The "door" challenge will end in a few hours. (yes, I waited until the last minute) Head on over to Stampin Sisters In Christ Sunday and get in on the brand new challenge. They never disappoint.

Quinceanera step card

Oops! I just found out that my caption is wrong. I will have to go back and change it.

Hello blogger friends. I hope you are having a wonderful day. I have another card to share with you.

A friend of mine has a daughter who is turning 15. She will be having a Quinceanera. My friend wanted a really special card. The young lady loves zebra stripes, the color red, and lots of bling. This is what I came up with.

I think it turned out pretty and fun at the same time. I cut the roses from red card stock using Penny Duncan's rose cut file and cut the leaves from green card stock using my cut file. I inked all edges with TH Frayed Burlap distress ink.

You can find the directions and free cut files for the step card on a tab under my blog header. I have added a cut files for the panels on the step card. (ex the red and zebra striped layers above.)

Don't forget to link up your projects on the link below this one.

Show and Tell

Crafting Misfit has a Show and Tell Link up party on her blog. I think this is a great idea. I had show and tell for all my students when I taught elementary school. I want to do the same thing here on my blog. You are welcome to list any recent project from your blog as long as you follow the rules. There will be a "winner" picked by a random number generator. The winner will receive a special badge and several of my handmade flowers. This is a great way to show off your creative projects.

Boo Ya!

Don't be scared...he is a friendly  ghost. He is in search of candy over at the Paper Cutz Challenge Blog.

This is my first DT project for Paper Cutz Challenge. I am so thrilled to be a part of it.

This challenge is called "Ghost Crossing" and you can only use the colors orange, purple, black, and white.
If you look closely, you will see that is a penny slider card. There are instructions for this all over the internet. I cut a slit in my front card panel that is 1/2 wide and long enough that my ghost will not hang over the side of the card when I move him left and right.

Next, I took 2 pennies and attached them together with a foam pop dot. I used a flat sticky dot to attach the coins to the back of my ghost. I slid  the pennies into the slit in my front panel. I attached the front panel piece to the card base with foam dots around the edges.
(In case that was as clear as mud, here is a picture)

Here is a free svg cut file: Ghost slider card

Here is a free pdf template: Ghost slider card templates

Now that you have a ghost cut file or template, be sure and scare up a card, LO, or craft project using a ghost and only the colors orange, purple, black , and white. The ghost can be a die cut, stamp, or digital image.

See you at Paper Cutz Challenge #109 "Caution - Ghost Crossing"

Pumpkin Patch

Hello crafty friends. I have been busy on cards for other people. I wanted to take a little time to make one that I wanted to make for a challenge.

I am going to be a new DT member for Paper Cutz Challenge! Their current challenge is a pumpkin card. I wanted to participate just for fun, but have had wait until the last minute.

I think the card turned out really cute though.

A new challenge starts tomorrow over at Paper Cutz Challenge. (First one for me as a DT) Pop over there to check it out. I will be posting my project for the new challenge tomorrow. It should be really fun!

One more thing, remember my Beach Hut Explosion Box I did last month? Well one of my blog friends Eva from Eva's Scraps and Cards has made a new and improved version. It is really cute. Go by there and leave her some blog love :)

Scrapping butterfly cards

If I had a piece of paper for every project I made....

Oh wait a minute, I DO! LOL
If you are like me you always have something left over after a card or scrapbook page. It could be a scrap of paper or an embellishment that just did not work. Since my scraps are quickly overtaking my craft area, I decided to make a few cards from scraps each week. Here are two to start off with.

I cut these butterflies and one of the frames months ago from the Home Accents Cricket cartridge. (probably the last time I used my Cricket) I did not use them, but could not bare to throw them away.

The pink frame is an svg that I got from  http://www.etsy.com/listing/64501576/flower-frames-set-svg-files

You may recognize the flowers from this post.

Well, hope you enjoyed these cards. I am off to play with more scraps.

Elk card

Michael's Craft Store is having a sell on their scrapbook paper. You can get 6 sheets of open stock paper (regularly 59 cents a piece) for $1. I can't physically go to stores anymore without a LOT of pain, so my sweet husband went to pick some papers out for me.He did a great job. He got a big stack of cool papers. I made him a card.

He loves hunting and elk. I made this elk silhouette. Then I used Distress Inks to color the background. (Barn door, Rusty hinge, and Wild honey)

I would love to tell you that the double layer effect was intentional, but the truth is I just messed up on the first layer then decided to use it underneath the top layer at the last minute. LOL I will take happy accidents anytime.

Here is a free download of the elksvg. (I trimmed the one in the picture so the svg is slightly different)

Here is a pdf version.

One more thing, Karen over at My Cup Runneth Over is having a giveaway for a floral frog. Hop on over and enter. It would be great for holding cards when you take pictures :)

Moving on up...

Just when I thought my birdhouse could not get any cuter...
...I took it to the next level (literally -LOL)

I added a cute little "porch" too.

Here is the pole and base with more curved edges.

Of course I had to add some little paper flowers...ok, a LOT of little paper flowers LOL

The roof is embossed with the Cuddlebug Birds & Swirls.
I thought that was a perfect fit.

Here is a link for the free small paper flowers svg set.
I did not make a pdf of these because they are so small.

I will add instructions for these in the "easy flower tutorial" tab under my blog header.

Thanks for coming by :)

Scalloped Birdhouse Box

Here is another version of my birdhouse box. This one has scalloped edges along the roof and base.

The roof also has little scalloped tiles.

I also added a "leafy flourish" to the front of the roof.

Here is a download for a free svg file for the leafy flourish.

The roof is the box lid.

I made a paper flower that I call a "simple daisy". You can find a tutorial on this and a free download of the svg and pdf on the "easy flower tutorial" tab under my blog header.

I cut the petals from white cardstock and inked the edges. I added a large teal colored rhinestone to the center.

Hope you enjoyed looking at my birdhouse box. I am off to go play with more designs :)
